I don't get behavior of that sort. Some folks don't know how to read, think, discuss or debate. It's all fight or flight. I used to try to reason with them, once upon a time, but zealotry is zealotry- no matter what sort- religious, political, ideological- and zealots simply cannot be argued or reasoned with. Treat them kindly, and they think you're somehow dissing them or being condenscending. Argue back, and they'll light into you in a heartbeat. Ignore them, and they scream invective until you finally have to shut them out. Not down- out. In my own experience, that's the only way to have peace- sad to say.
Life is too short to have to put up with uncivil people. There are enough of them in the real world.
How are your garden plans going? Are you going to hire help to get it going? Or have you considered trying raised beds or hydroponics?
