Rafferty's Gone to His Real Home

When his new mom walked in, Rafferty got all excited. He was more excited to see her than he has ever been to see anyone else, even me. He liked me because I fed him and protected him and played with him, but mostly he liked me because I had Itzl and he adored Itzl. Most dogs like Itzl.

He went bonkers seeing his new mom - tail wagging, leaning towards her as I handed him over, then ferociously licking her anywhere he could reach. When she put him down, he immediately wanted back up. He sat for her, he heeled for her, and he followed her everywhere.

Now, he followed me eveywhere, mostly because he wanted food or was scared. He never followed me because he loved me.

When people ask how could I bear to give him up, the answer is simple - he isn't my dog. I had the care of him for a while, but he truly belonged to someone else.

He's going to be so happy in his new home.
