Don't know if I'm considered a citizen or just a postulant, but I could become a Webmster In Training (WIT) if you're seeking one. You're right about things changing in ten years- half my battle is deciding what platform to design on. We're way past the pencil-and-paper stage.
How about "TerraVista" as a name? Earth-View. Since you're already earth and sustainability-focused, this might work. I'd also offer up Sunfell, since it was a place before it became my Nom d'Web. And of course, who could overlook Cornucopia, a wonderfully Numenistic nomenclature?
I'd say that ideas and knowledge (and accompanying wisdom) would be a great income source, if you choose your resources wisely. Consider what you already know- and the hits your survival site is getting. The seeds are right there. [insert national name here] could become renowned for its brilliant brainstormers and creative insights. I am a great believer in multiple small streams of revenue. Heck, you could make money by establishing a national bank, and being tighter with privacy than Switzerland. Utilize an Obama-level vetting process and you'd be in for the win. (It isn't hard to start a bank- at least according to my latest Smart Money magazine...)
Starting a bank gives me the willies - not only because most of the micronations I know of that have done so have been indicted for fraud on some level or other but because I am terrible with funds and math and I can't seem to wrap my head around accounting and bookkeeping any more and because I have no Treasurer to do all of that for me.
As small as New Atlantis is right now, I'd rather forgo banking. I'd be open to the possibility later - assuming, of course, that the citizens all agree.
