At this point, I have no idea what I will be doing with the Dreamwidth Blog.

I've tried doing blogs just for my writing, but that crept over here and I've pretty much abandoned my writing only blog.

I've tried doing one for cookery only, except that one, too, crept over here and the original blog fizzled.

Like the others, I tried doing a strictly political blog, and it crept over here while hte original fizzled.

This one was originally going to be a Numenism only blog, and it's pretty much held true to that purpose, because Numenism is more than a religion, it's a lifestyle, so everything I do and write about is Numenous.

Pretty much every separate blog I've tried to create and maintain has merged over here, except my survivalist blog. I have managed to keep that one separate and ongoing. It's lasted more than a year with frequent, if not regular, updates.

I don't want talon @ Dreamwidth to be another ebonypearl. A lot of things I post kind of get drowned here in all the mishmash of things I do and post, especially since when I started ebonypearl, I had no clue how to tag posts. That won't happen with talon. I know about tagging now.

If DW works well for me, I may abondon the weight of ebonypearl and let talon become my "everything" blog, all neatly tagged and categorized and stuff.

On the other hand, perhaps it is time to once again create a blog that is devoted to Numenous thoughts, ponderings, essays, and tidbits of information - neatly tagged, of course. Ebonypearl could then stay the general anything goes, disorganized blog it is now.

I chose the name "talon" because that was the name I always wanted for a blog but couldn't have because it belonged to someone else.

There is no special reason for it, no associations or symbolism in chosing this name. "Ebonypearl" was the name of the pirate ship I commanded as a child - it was really a chinaberry tree - and it evoked the wild and dangerous adventures I had back then (and it was dangerous - broken arms, broken collar bones, deep cuts, bruises, concussions - we played rough and often fell off the mizzen mast and out of the crow's nest and swords made of chinaberry branches aren't very fogiving and those yellow chinaberries are cruelly hard when shot like cannon at one another across the bows of the chinaberry and into my rival hickory nut pirate ship - named Dread Angel if I recall correctly).

I like the way the letters feel in my mouth, all smooth and pointy and sleek like velvet over steel. I like the way it looks - all rippled like water with depths and layers to it, sparkly and shiny and new with a sense of age behind it. There is no other reason than that this is a combination of letters that appeals to me. That it makes a coherent word is a bonus.
