Itzl isn't forgotten in all this puppy business. He just keeps on doing his job just the way he should - and doing it while being mauled by a rambunctious, rowdy, bitey puppy.

Here, he's alerting on a door alarm - someone entered the first door, then didn't go through the second door or exit back out of the first door, so that trips an alarm in case the person needs help or isn't supposed to be there or might be trying to do something Not Nice.

The alarm is not audible between the doors and there is no flashing light. The only way I can confirm it's been set off is to pay attention to alerts and to look down that end of my office to see if someone's standing there.

Then I get to decide if they're just not bright enough to open the second door, if they're sheltering from the weather, or if they're up to No Good and act appropriately. Usually, it's the first.

It makes me despair of people because there are signs in the entryway directing people to proceed through the doors and on into my office.

If Itzl weren't here to alert me to their presence (I have a brick and concrete post blocking my view of the door when I'm seated at my desk), they'd probably stand there until they gave up and went home.

Itzl is a Very Good Dog for alerting me when this happens - at least twice a day.

Edited to change subject line to avoid confusion.

Ditto! :) It's cool to hear of how a service dog acts while on the job. Thanks for sharing these.
