McDonald's will remain on the boycott list as they are adding even more soy to their foods. They are joined by a lengthy list of other restaurants who hide soy in their foods. Many of these restaurants, surprisingly, are unaware that their food has soy in it - even though soy is among the top 10 allergens and is required to be listed as an ingredient in all foods. It's getting so it's not safe to eat anything we haven't prepared ourselves.
It doesn't have to be listed in non-food products, despite a large number of people with contact soy allergies. So manufacturers are sliding soy into ink (preventing the use of photocopiers and some printer ink cartridges and some pens - and leading to having to cancel some magazine subscriptions because they print with soy), soap, hand lotions, aerosol sprays of various sorts, perfumes, deodorants, mascara, lipsticks and lip balms, nail polish, candles, and they're even making fabric out of soy. The other day, I saw sandals made of soy being advertised.
We may have to abdicate from society altogether to avoid the soy invasion; become Luddites against my desire.
